MESSAGE FROM VP OF HRM

L & G,

I am pleased to announce that PETRONAS Training and Assessment Committee for Technicians and Operators (TACTO) and HRD Corporate have developed PETRONAS Competency-based Assessment System (PECAS) to assess the competencies of our Technicians and Operators Groupwide. This system will replace the current Upgrading Trade Test.

In this system, the assessment of Single Skilled, Dual Skilled and Multitasked Technicians and Operators (NET) for upgrading shall be carried out on all the duties and tasks listed in NET next higher Position Job Profile (PJP) or the next higher Job Grade. Assessment of each task is done on a continuous basis and is made an integral part of the candidate's daily work activities until he/she is found competent to the standard specified in PETRONAS Occupational Skill Standard (POSS).

For details of the system and its implementation, kindly refer to the Competency-based Assessment of Technicians and Operators - Assessment Guidelines and Implementation Guidelines which are available online through our INTRANET at PECAS Web Application. This system enables proper assessment, monitoring and recording of NET competency performance.

In our pursuit to be a Leading Oil and Gas Multinational of Choice, I sincerely hope that both the Management and NET can cohesively work as a team towards achieving a World Class Plant status.

Lastly, on behalf of PETRONAS, I would like to thank TACTO, HRD and INSTEP for designing and developing the system; and more importantly, to all PETRONAS OPUs for implementing the entire system smoothly for the benefit of PETRONAS Group.

For and On behalf of PETRONAS
